Synopsis
Documentary which follows and describes the ultimate challenge faced by Galician mountain-climber Chus Lago after two years of intense training and preparation: overcome a distance of 1.200 kms (from Hercules Bay in the Wedell Sea to the South Pole) on her own and withstanding temperatures 50 to 80 Cº below zero. The Spanish mountaineer, the first Spanish woman and third in the world to reach Everest without the aid of artificial oxygen, began her journey with the only company of a sled in which she carried everything necessary for the expedition and a camera. In mid-Antarctic summer, with light twenty-four hours a day and enduring storms with gale-force winds and thin layers of snow on ice sheets, Chus managed to reach her goal, thus becoming the first Spanish woman to conquer the Geographical South Pole. Chus overcame the most adverse circumstances thanks to her extraordinary physical preparation and the illusion of seeing her dream fulfilled. GENERAL AUDIENCES - ALL AGES...more
