Synopsis
In 2011, Brigitte Bardot agreed to a biographical documentary project. When director David Teboul first met her, her reaction was irrevocable: she did not want to participate in his documentary but agreed to give him access to her family archives, a multitude of films made by her father from the first hours of her life to her metamorphosis into a screen goddess. She also allowed the director to shoot freely the houses of La Madrague and La Garrigue in Saint-Tropez, her own havens. From these precious materials, David Teboul elaborated an intimate portrait of the actress in the shape of a declaration of love. He also relied on passages from "Initiales B.B.", the very moving actress' autobiography told by Bulle Ogier as well as film extracts. From her middle-class childhood - with an indifferent mother, an authoritarian father and a little sister that her parents preferred - until her retirement thirty years ago, David Teboul created a rare, moving and empathic portrait. He showed, perhaps for the first time, all the contradictions of a woman who was at the same time passionately in love, melancholic and wild, who managed so badly to distinguish real life from cinema that she almost died from it....more
